I’m playing tomorrow night at Sipology in Long Beach. The show starts promptly (and I mean promptly) at 8pm. I’m playing what most people would consider a short set (30 – 40 minutes) but I consider a long set since that’s about 20 songs of mine if I really focus. Then my friend Allen Morris, who just recorded my new EP, is playing a set. It’s acoustic and chilled out. Should be a lot of fun.
So I got a rough mix of “Girls Who Don’t Wear Glasses” today. Since I’ll have the final mix pretty soon, I don’t want to put it on the site just yet. But if you’d like a copy, I’d be happy to email it to you. Just leave a comment below with your real email address (hidden on the site) or drop me a line. You’re free to share it on your site, Tumblr or whatever you’d like.
More news on the EP coming soon. And it’s not too late to suggest a name.
PS — Oh, and there’s a taste of the artwork. A rough sketch by Eric Koda.
Seriously. I love Hole Hole Tuesday at the Ryman.
I was in my car without my iPod this morning and had to dig through the cassette tape selection for music. I grabbed a truly awesome mix tape that may be about 12 years old. It’s labeled “ska/beats” and it’s so old and funked up that it warbles when I play it and speeds up and slows down randomly. It also sounds like it’s playing underwater.
I’ll tell you right now the “ska” side probably got a lot more wear. That’s another reason for the warped tape sounds.
I really need to find all these tracks so I can recreate this epic playlist digitally. For posterity, here’s the track listing. (more…)
After an annoying morning, it’s nice to discover my market is selling Mexican Coca-Cola again.
